What an interval timer is for.

An interval timer splits training into fixed blocks of work and rest so you stop deciding when to stop. That decision is the problem: left to yourself you finish the round when the round gets hard, which is exactly the part of the round that changes anything. Boxers and MMA fighters use rounds because a fight is rounds. Conditioning athletes use short work blocks with short rest because that is where the heart rate climbs and stays.

The timer above does three things. It counts the work period down in numbers big enough to read from the other side of a garage. It beeps a warning before the work period ends, ten seconds by default, so you can empty the tank instead of guessing. And it tracks which round you are on, which matters more than people expect, because the round you lose form in is the round worth filming.

Nothing here is stored and nothing is charged. Set the numbers, press Start, put the phone down. If you want a review of what you did in those rounds, that is what mmaGPT does: upload a clip and you get timestamped notes on what went wrong plus a drill to fix it, in about 30 to 45 seconds. Your first session is free and no card is needed.

FAQ

Interval timer questions.

What is a good interval timer for boxing?
A good interval timer for boxing counts a work period, a rest period and the round number in numbers you can read from across the room, and warns you before the round ends. The mmaGPT interval timer above does all three in your phone browser with nothing to download, and it is free.
How do I set an interval timer?
Set three numbers: work time, rest time and how many rounds. Then set the warning, which is the beep before the work period ends, and press Start. On this page you can also load a preset and every field fills in for you.
Does this timer work on my phone?
Yes. It runs in the browser on iPhone and Android with nothing to download. The beeps start after your first tap, because phone browsers block sound until you touch the screen, and the screen stays awake while the timer runs if your browser allows it.

Film one of those rounds.

Run the timer, film a single round from the side with your whole body in frame, and upload it. mmaGPT marks the moments your technique broke down and gives you one drill to fix it. First review free, no card needed.
