Sparring review

AI sparring analysis

Film a round, upload it, and get timestamped fixes plus a drill for each one.

What mmaGPT looks for in your sparring.

mmaGPT is AI sparring analysis for fighters who film their rounds and want to know what to fix. Upload a round of boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing, BJJ or wrestling sparring, straight from your phone's browser on iPhone or Android with nothing to download. mmaGPT watches the whole round and marks each moment that matters with a timestamp: when your guard drops after a punch, when you stand at the wrong distance and get hit on the way in, when your entries are easy to read, when your defense is late, and when you lose position in a scramble or on the mat.

Every note comes with a drill to fix it, so you leave with a plan for your next session instead of a vague feeling about how the round went. A review takes about 30 to 45 seconds. It covers 11 disciplines, and your first review is free with no card needed.

Bring the notes to your coach. mmaGPT gives you a second look at every round you film, and your coach decides what you work on. It fills the gap between classes, when nobody is watching your tape with you.

Sample review

What a review looks like.

Amateur boxer, eight months of training, uploaded a single 47-second bag round to mmaGPT. The footage shows continuous jab work, occasional 1-2 combinations, and one short flurry. The athlete asked for a defensive review with no specific focus area selected, so the system ran the default Defense > Stance > Mechanics > Tactics priority pass.

What it saw

The system flagged a recurring rear-hand drift on jab retractions: the rear glove leaves the cheekbone on roughly 58% of retractions and stops at the collarbone. The drift averages 4 inches and is largest after the second jab in any double-jab sequence. Secondary issues include a small lead-shoulder pre-load and a lead-foot crossover when reaching for distance. The drill ladder returned was the tape-and-snap progression.

What it told the athlete to do

  • Tape-and-snap drill for two sessions, both bag and mitt work.
  • Cap double-jabs at single jabs until the rear-hand reset is reliable.
  • Mirror jab between rounds for visual feedback on guard position.
  • Stance reset to a 45-degree angle to reduce squaring-up amplification.

Filming

How to film sparring for a good review.

  • Angle: set the phone side-on at about chest height, far enough back to see both fighters.
  • Full body in frame: keep feet and hands in the shot for the whole round, so stance and guard can be read.
  • One round: upload one round at a time, so every note points at a clear moment.
